Day-Tripping in Uruguay's Colonia del Sacramento

3.29.2011

Just a ferry ride across the Rio de la Plata from Buenos Aires and you're in Uruguay's oldest town, Colonia del Sacramento. Founded by the Portuguese and taken over by the Spanish, its overgrown colorful trees, cobblestone streets, cozy waterfront cafes, and sunset made for the perfect day trip. It's no wonder why the historic center is a World Heritage Site...now all I needed was that bicycle.

I have to say that you look stunning on the first pic and I am loving the pic of the blue door and the one with the red bicycle. This town looks so European, I guess cause of the Portuguese.

Beautiful pictures. I just found your site and love it. I love the blue door above...There is an area of Rabat, Morocco where the entire town is painted bright blue. It makes everything else around it, the nature, the people, the sounds, bounce like crazy!
