Boho Style

Boho Chic: Combining Comfort with Style
It may be getting towards the end of the festival season, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping the growing number of cool customers that are still rocking the boho look. Who can blame them though? This style is all about warm colours, vibrant patters and above all, comfort. The boho style litters the high street every year, as it’s the best excuse to dress down, as long as you can pull it off! Check out the rest of this article for a peak at the top boho looks this year. Hopefully they’ll give you some chilled inspiration for your next outing!

Harem Trousers
These have been around the shops for a few years now, but they’ve recently been reinvigorated and reimagined with a “tribal” twist. The African trend has been warmly welcomed by the fashion community, and its bright colours and crazy patterns have meant that harem trousers are back with a vengeance. You could opt for a patterned cut-off version, and pair them with some classic, knee-high gladiator sandals and a loose-fitting top. Go for something with mainly darker tones though, to emphasise the bold colours of the trousers.

Charm Bracelets
Charm bracelets are a great accessory because they go with so many different outfits, but even they have been given a boho makeover. Think feather charms, peace symbols and tassels that apparently ward off evil. They’re a really easy way to add some glamour to an alternative outfit, and if you want something a little more unique, there’s a cool collection of boho jewellery at ChloBo. They specialize in handmade pieces of the best quality metals, and you’ll be guaranteed to find something that’s the perfect fit for your style.

Informal Florals
Everyone loves florals during the summer, but instead of opting for the shift dress in pastel pinks or a racer skirt, opt for things that are far more fluid. There are some stunning, loose-fitting tops and off-the-shoulder-style dresses at the moment, that ooze that romantic gypsy look. They go perfectly with a fringed leather bag, over-sized sunhat and messy fishtail to complete the festival chic look, but look for bold floral patterns as a way of making you stand out from the crowd.

Bejewelled Footwear
If you want to be a true hippie, it doesn’t get any better than having your feet adorned by spiritual gem stones and a touch of sparkle. Again, boho is all about comfort, and there’s been a distinct shift away from heels recently, with people favouring flats. Because of this, the shops are brimming with sandals and summer shoes that are covered in turquoise and coral, as well as some gold and glitter. Cast aside the wedges for once and try a pair of these with a maxi dress, gathered and raised by a slim belt around the waist to show off the sparkle.

Kestrel Travel Clutch Handbag

Tuesday

You know how sometimes you purchase an item because you like it and might get good use out of it but it isn't until you actually start using it that you realize how GREAT it actually is and how much you do in fact love it? That's exactly how I feel about my beloved Parquet Zip Clutch from Kestrel! I loved the herringbone pattern and knew it would be useful in keeping my knickknacks neat and separated with it's zipped pockets, especially during my travels, but it really has become one of my favorite bags because of it's stylish versatility and quality.

The pattern was hand-drawn which I found absolutely charming and features strong gold hardware zippers, another element I love, but the best thing about it is its functionality and how it can be used as both a clutch or a beauty bag. The black coated lining makes it easy to clean, a definite plus for storing your cosmetics and hair care while on the road or after having a wild night out on the town. The nifty little dust bag it comes with keeps the clutch protected when not in use.

I cannot rave about my Kestrel clutch enough but don't take my word for it, have a look at the full collection for yourself at kestrel.com. They also make some beautiful large weekend bags, totes, and leather goods. Pick one, get it, you won't be disappointed! You're welcome ;-P

Vintage Train Cases

Saturday

Who doesn't love that old glamour of yesteryear when women carried chic train cases in their gloved hands and waltzed off in utter style? I've always been a fan of those classy vintage boxes but that's all been exchanged for easier to handle, lighter models, which brings me to ask why they can't just come up with a combination of the two that won't break the bank...perhaps that'll be my next mission. These also make interesting design pieces for decorating your home. Aren't these cases great?

Tribal Jewelry + Gypsy Chic

Tuesday

Since taking a 1 month hiatus after my first blog birthday in March, I thought what better way to get back into blogging than with lots of color, details and design from one of my favorite countries. You may remember some past Jordan posts traveling through Petra and the Dead Sea, but this one is strictly accessories and pieces I came across while there. I looove gypsy style jewelry and items like the beaded tribal mirror below so imagine my delight when I managed to get my hands on an intricate Bedouin ring topped with a cherry quartz. What are your thoughts.. any design fixations related to a country or place?

I'd Rather Wear a Unique Story

Sunday

Hello all! I'm back from my trip to California, including Napa Valley (outstanding!) and getting a bunch of new posts ready out of 1500+ pics.

It'll be a few days before I post so in the meantime, have a look at Boticca, an interesting online shop I just discovered. Four people in four different cities got together to scour the world for top emerging designers, their stories and their exquisite pieces. They showcase the distinct styles found around the globe, their tagline being "I'd Rather Wear a Unique Story". I love the concept! Wish I had come up with that..  After looking over hundreds of their coolest items, here are some of my top picks:

 Carlotta Shoe, $79  /  Cleo  Necklace, $39 via ElizabethColleta.com

Is it just me or do these sandals just make you wanna be on an exotic African island such as Zanzibar or Cape Verde?? Shakin' that a** like you're Beyoncé in the beach sequence of her Déjà Vu video. Cuz that's what I feel like doing.. And I think the necklace compliments the whole scene quite nicely too :-P

Divide and Conquer : The Cortez Shoe

Saturday

So apparently the name "Cortez" throughout history often involved the conquering of something or someone.. at least according to Matt Bernson (who designed the Cortez shoe and has a shop conveniently located near me in Tribeca.)  So I have decided that my latest conquest are these heels. They're strong, they're funky, and have just the right amount of cool to waltz me in and out of my next destination. I need these in my life!

Kindly accepting donations beginning now ;-P

It's hard to choose just one since they're all so beautiful and inexpensive!  I <3

Icelandic Knit Hat in New York

Sunday

I visited Iceland during the month of December which surprisingly wasn't terribly cold (even though there were a few times those crazy Arctic winds could've blown me back across the Atlantic.) I happened to find this fleece-lined knit hat in a kitschy souvenir shop out in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes those are the best finds, don't you think? I especially liked that it covered my ears and had cute knit braids on either side. And it was perfect for last Saturday's chilly afternoon...
