Luxury Hotels in Rio de Janeiro

Friday

This is a sponsored post. Images provided by Sunset Visitor

Rio de Janeiro is, of course, the focal point of the tourism trade in Brazil and it is not difficult to see why. The city has some of the most amazing beaches in the world along with some breathtaking architecture and scenery; it's certainly not a UNESCO World Heritage site for nothing. The upcoming FIFA World Cup 2014, the Olympic Games 2016, and the annual Carnaval, are all major draws that will have millions of people from all around the globe flocking to this city. Rio is also a great place to experience 5-star opulence, with the hotels pictured here ranging in price from $187USD to $690 USD per night during low season. I might just have to hop on a flight down there one of these days...

An Idyllic Scene in Playa Blanca

Thursday

Paradise lost? Naaa..it's right here in Playa Blanca, Punta Cana (not to be mistaken with Bávaro where the beaches don't even come close). Walk out as far as you like here, the water will still only brush your knees. Dominican Republics's pristine beaches are unrivaled in sheer beauty and what makes them even better is the absolutely dee-licious food served straight to your humble little abode on the sand. I'm really craving one of those fresh piña coladas in a pineapple. Yum!

Boardwalk Carnival at Santa Cruz Beach

Sunday

Sometimes you're just a big kid in a big playland :-).. (and thank you to the ugly ambulances making my shot look like a nursing home.)

Afrikaans!

 Carlotta Shoe, $79  /  Cleo  Necklace, $39 via ElizabethColleta.com

Is it just me or do these sandals just make you wanna be on an exotic African island such as Zanzibar or Cape Verde?? Shakin' that a** like you're Beyoncé in the beach sequence of her Déjà Vu video. Cuz that's what I feel like doing.. And I think the necklace compliments the whole scene quite nicely too :-P

A Perfect Sunrise

Friday

(spread from my feature in Aug. issue of Vécu magazine)

This pink haze of colors is what I saw out of my guest room and through the porch door when I opened my eyes the last morning of my stay at Martha's Vineyard. I had to stumble my sleepy butt to grab my cam and take some shots.. too beautiful to sleep through! If only every morning could be like this.. TGIF and Happy Weekend of Colorful Sunrises and Sunsets :-)

Seashells by the Seashore

Thursday

So yes, the same outfit continues because the last few posts were basically one long-ass day!. LoL. We spent the late afternoon just walking by the shore around the Edgartown lighthouse on Martha's Vineyard.. saying hello to our own shadows and walking through tall grass ;-P. It was one of those nice 'late summer' feeling days when you know autumn is just around the corner.

Summer Brunch at The Surf Lodge

Tuesday

While visiting the Hamptons a few weekends ago, we stopped at the The Surf Lodge in Montauk, co-designed by an old colleague of mine. The brunch was beyond deeelicious! I'll let the photos give you a "taste" of it all, lol.

(My good pal Maurenice of Villa Bisono, took all these fantastic pics, they appeared previously on her site so make sure to check out her page for all things interior design and inspiration!)

Bohéme Boutique - A Fashionable Hippie Haunt

I walked by this store while visiting a friend who lives by the Mondrian Miami and I completely fell in love! A 'Fashionable Hippie Haunt', this little shop embodies the Gypset. Owners Lydia Pefaur and Edit Meurrens travel the globe to find things like hundred-year-old tables from Bali and glamorous beach chic items. It's the perfect place to pick up exotic pieces from around the world. There were so many beautiful things I wish I had taken more pics! Guess that just means I'll have to go back ;-P

The Beaches of Tobago

Thursday

Memorial Day has come and gone officially marking the start of the Summer season! Vécu's Summer of Love issue is out today with my feature on Tobago. Beach, parties, sun, fun, ahhhhh....

"The Caribbean island of Tobago... it's akin to a swinging sarong, flowing lazily in the breeze. If ever you've looked for that secluded stretch of sand that you could have all to yourself, this place is it! The bays are perfectly carved alcoves of crystalline water and the food as fresh as a fish pulled out of the sea. And lest I forget to mention the cool beach reggae, steel-pan bands and limbo fiestas that will have you and your love 'limin' faster than you can say "yeahhh mon..."
