TRAVEL BOOKS : GYPSET TRAVEL

Saturday

Hello all! It's been 2 months to the day since I've been on the blog, but alas, here I am again, letting my fellow travel and design junkies know about a fantastic new book coming out next month. Following her best-selling 2009 title Gypset Style, which I raved about a while back, travel writer Julia Chaplin explores the little-known enclaves of gypsy jet-setters around the world. From the Aeolian Islands in Italy to Lamu, Kenya; North Goa, India; and José Ignacio, Uruguay—Gypset Travel delves into the glamorous yet casual lifestyle of these bohemian wanderers through intimate photography and first-person anecdotes. This book looks just as good as the first if not better with this gorgeous cover, can't wait to get my hands on it.

Pre-order Gypset Travel at almost half price (due Dec. 4), but take note! I don't think it will stay this cheap for long especially with the holidays coming and this making a great gift.

Bohéme Boutique - A Fashionable Hippie Haunt

Tuesday

I walked by this store while visiting a friend who lives by the Mondrian Miami and I completely fell in love! A 'Fashionable Hippie Haunt', this little shop embodies the Gypset. Owners Lydia Pefaur and Edit Meurrens travel the globe to find things like hundred-year-old tables from Bali and glamorous beach chic items. It's the perfect place to pick up exotic pieces from around the world. There were so many beautiful things I wish I had taken more pics! Guess that just means I'll have to go back ;-P

Syrian Gypsy

Wednesday

The famous tiger print scarf seen here and here serves many purposes, LoL, like when a Bedouin tried to teach me how to tie a traditional head scarf at a totally pimped out tent in the Syrian desert. This post was of course inspired by that terrific gift I mentioned last week. What do you think of this gypsy-ish look?

Gypset Style

Monday

A friend recently gave me a travel book of sorts called Gypset Style by Julia Chaplin who coined the term to describe "an international community of artists, designers, surfers, and bon vivants who live and work around the globe. The Gypset is about fusing the ease and carefree lifestyle of a Gypsy with the sophistication of the jet set." While it may simply look like a great coffee table book, it also serves as a remarkable reminder to live life freely, beautifully, and happily. You are the only person who can design your life to be what you want.

Pick up Gypset Style here.  You can also now pre-order Gypset Travel at almost half off.
